Shifts can be a mixture of early and lates between the hours of 7am-8pm and nights.
One of our clients are looking for experienced Housing First Workers. This is for a fairly new service, so this is an exciting opportunity to be part of the setup of the team!
You will be working with people who are experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping who face many challenges. This is a key role in which you will be supporting clients and helping them progress and achieve their goals.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· You will have your own caseload of clients to support and will work with them on a one-to-one basis out in the community and clients’ homes.
· You will identify their needs by listening to them and put together a support plan which is equally achievable and realistic for them.
· Linking in with outreach workers and other agencies to build rapport and trust with clients who are homeless in preparation for them getting their own accommodation.
· You will support clients to attend appointments and act as a link for client to engage in services with the aim to improve their physical and mental health.
· You will encourage their involvement in personal progression in the form of education, training, employment activity or volunteering.
· Helping to improve their practical skills in areas such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, housework and managing a tenancy.
· Working flexibly across all areas of operation where required and prior notice given.
· Being the first welcoming friendly face for people coming into the service.
· Providing informal support to clients and be a listening ear.
· Dealing with any incidents that may arise and contact external services when necessary.
· Working in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and policy procedure.
· Providing basic First Aid assistance until help arrives – Full training provided.
Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:
· Previous experience within a similar role is not essential however you must have a real passion for wanting to work with people who are homeless.
· Knowledge of the benefits system and tenancy legislation.
· Having an interest and genuine concern for homelessness and related issues
· Knowledge of best practice in supporting people with drug/alcohol and/or mental health issues, including realistic harm reduction approaches.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Valid online DBS for Adults and Children is desired.
Driving licence and access to a car with business insurance in essential!
